Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi on Wednesday attended the swearing-in ceremony of members of the County Assembly and the speaker.

A total of 86 MCAs, including 26 nominated members, are expected to take the oath of office.

Kiambu county Assembly clerk John Mutie will preside over the swearing-in ceremony.

Others in attendance include senator Karungo Thangwa and women representative Ann Wamuratha.

Immediately after the swearing-in event, members of county Assembly are expected to elect the speaker and his deputy.

Six candidates are vying for the seat including former Kihara Ward MCA aspirant Josphat Kamanya, former Githunguri MP aspirant Charles Thiong'o, former Limuru Central MCA Njenga Murugami and Charles Chege who unsuccessfully vied for the Kabete parliamentary seat at the August polls.

Others are Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Kiambu branch chairman Daniel Mwangi.
