Governor Barasa gazettes first sitting of third County assembly

He was sworn in as Kakamega's second Governor on Thursday.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has gazetted the first sitting of the third County assembly.

In a gazette notice dated September 16, Barasa said the sitting will take place at the County chambers.

"The powers conferred by sections 7A and 7B of the County Governments Act, 2012 and Standing Order No. 3 of the Kakamega County Assembly Standing Orders, I appoint that the first sitting of the third County Assembly shall be held at the county chambers on September 21, 2022, at 9.00 am," the notice read.

Barasa was sworn in Thursday as Kakamega's second Governor.

He took an oath of office alongside his Deputy Governor Ayub Savula.

He was declared the winner in the Kakamega governor race after garnering  192,768 votes against his closest challenger  Malala who got 59,275 votes.
