Deputy governor dies at JKIA

A top County official passed away while boarding a Kenya Airways plane from Nairobi to Mombasa on Wednesday.

In a statement released by Kenya Airways, the official developed breathing difficulties.

Kenya Airways did not, however, disclose the identity of the person but the Star has learnt the deceased is a deputy governor of a county.

"Kenya Airways PLC (KQ) regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart for Mombasa at 1900hrs," it reads.

He died while heading to the Governor's induction in Mombasa.

The deputy governor was pronounced dead by the medical personnel before the plane took off.

KQ said the JKIA health and security agencies are handling the matter.

KQ has passed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

This is the third death to be reported by KQ  in recent weeks.

The last two happened onboard planes during flights.
