MPs and Senators are expected to cast their votes in a secret ballot to vote for speakers of both Houses immediately after their swearing-in.

Moses Wetang'ula is seeking to be the National Assembly's speaker in the 13th Parliament.

He will be battling it with former Speaker Kenneth Marende. 

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi who is Wetangula's brother has insisted they are on opposite sides of the political divide ahead of the exercise.

Wanyonyi won his seat on an ODM ticket, which is under Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance, while Wetangula's party Ford Kenya is in Kenya Kwanza.

“Wetangula is my brother, but we are on opposite sides of the political divide, however, I cannot disclose my vote,” Wanyonyi said.
