The August 9 general election ushered new entrants into various legislative houses with a record 31 new legislators making a debut in the Senate.
Members of the house will be sworn in Thursday alongside MPs-elect.
This means only 16 of the 47 senators elected in 2017 retained their seats while 31 either lost or vied as governors.
Among the new entrants, however, are those who are making a comeback having served in the same capacity after the 2013 general election.
They include Boni Khalwale of Kakamega who went for the governor seat in 2017 but lost to Wycliffe Oparanya.
And like Khalwale, a gnaecologist, some of the new entrants are professionals in their own right.
A keen look at their profiles indicates that majority are lawyers by profession or have served in the legal profession.
Tom Ojienda, the Kisumu senator-elect, is a lawyer of high repute with a distinguished law career spanning more than 25 years.
He has taught law at Moi University for more than 10 years and is the managing partner at Prof Tom Ojienda & Associates law firm.
Ojienda is one of the few Kenyan lawyers who have attained the professional grade of a senior counsel in the legal field.
He holds a Doctor of Law from University of South Africa, Pretoria, Master of Law degree from King’s College London and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi.
He also holds a Diploma in French Language Studies from Alliance Française in Paris.
With more than 15 years in legal practice, Edwin Sifuna is yet another seasoned lawyer making his debut in the lower legislative House as the new Nairobi senator.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi and a law diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
The aggressive politician's legal practice dates back to 2005 when he worked at Kairu & Mc Court Advocates.
Another new entrant bringing a wealth of legal mind to the Senate is the new Busia Senator-elect Okiya Omtatah.
Even though he is not a trained lawyer, Omtatah has built a reputation for himself as a fierce activist who rarely loses court cases whenever he challenges unconstitutional decisions.
A holder of a diploma in mechanical and automobile engineering from Kenya Polytechnic, Omtatah has filed more than a thousand petitions and made many appearances in court than any other Kenyan.
Thabita Karanja, an entrepreneur per excellence, is another newbie to the Senate with a rich professional history in the business world.
She was the 2014 CNBC-AFRICA's African Entrepreneur and East African Entrepreneur of the year award winner.
The founder of Keroche Breweries was elected Nakuru senator in a landslide victory.
Tabitha, who recently changed her name to include Keroche, has fought many battles to keep her business afloat.
Danson Mungatana is another legal mind making his debut in the Senate after several failed attempts for a comeback into politics.
The former Garsen MP was elected the Tana River senator after beating nine opponents by a huge margin.
The former MP popularly known as 'Mla Mamba' (the crocodile eater) is back in the political limelight after spending a decade in the political cold.
Following in his footsteps is the University of Nairobi law graduate Daniel Maanzo, the Makueni senator.
Fresh from representing Makueni constituency in the National Assembly, Maanzo brings in the House years of legal practice dating back to 1998 when he first practiced apprenticeship at Pheroze Nowrojee and Company law firm.
Former Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, a Biochemistry degree holder from Kenyatta University, also joins the House as a senator with professional experience outside politics.
Besides the Biochemistry degree, Mandago holds a master’s degree in Procurement and Strategic Planning from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Before assuming active politics, the former governor worked with the Teachers Service Commission.
William Cheptumo, the Baringo senator, is another lawyer who was elected in the Senate.
Though the UoN law graduate has not been actively involved in legal practice, he has been an active member in the National Assembly representing Baringo North constituency since 2008.
