A section of residents from Mwingi town, in Kitui county, have taken to the streets to celebrate the Supreme Court ruling that upheld William Ruto's victory as President-elect.
The court on Monday ruled that Ruto was validly elected as the President.
The group lauded the Supreme court ruling read by Chief Justice Martha Koome stating they are contented with it.
Maliti Mengi, a businessman from Mwingi urged Ruto to consider installing Mwingi as a county as promised during his campaigns.
"We kindly remind you to make split Mwingi from Kitui and make it a county as this will ensure more development in the region," he said.
He also asked him to ensure Mwingi has a public tertiary institution to enable the growth of the area.
"Mwingi town has no University and if one would be constructed here, it will highly boost the economy of the region," he said.
Kyumbu David, urged Wiper party leader, Stephen Kalonzo to consider joining the Kenya Kwanza government.
"Kalonzo is still our kingpin and whatever direction he tells us to follow, we shall comply," he said.
Gideon Mutambu, a former Mwingi central candidate under the UDA party has also echoed the words of Kalonzo joining Kenya Kwanza and all other leaders to back the government for unity and development of the country.
