All staff at the governor's office in Machakos County have been sent on compulsory leave.
In a letter seen by the Star dated September 2, 2022, and signed by the chief officer, Office of the Governor, Robert Maitha, the staff have been directed to go on a compulsory leave effective September 5, 2022.
They have also been ordered to submit copies of their academic certificates, testimonials and current appointment letters to the County Public Service Board on October 4, 2022.
"This is to communicate the decision of the Machakos County Public Service Board that you are required to proceed on leave effective 5th, September 2022," the letter reads in part.
It was copied to the Governor, the Chief of Staff and the Chairperson of the County Public Service Board.
The decision to send the staff on compulsory leave comes two days after Governor Wavinya Ndeti held a meeting with Members of the County Public Service Board on August 31, 2022.
Ndeti said they resolved to work together to streamline public service in the county.
"I assured them on behalf of my government of our total support for their programs as we all aspire to an effective and efficient public service," Ndeti said.
