Shalom Hospital, Athi River branch, has launched an Express Unit for patients with emergencies and the busy ones.
Hospital’s director of medical services Dr Hellen Onyango said patients visiting the unit will be attended to in at most 30 minutes. The Express Unit was officially launched at the facility on Tuesday.
“We have launched our Express Clinic today and our services are excellent. When you need service care, we will give you that care instantly,” Hellen told the press during the launch.
“We are guaranteeing experience, professional, timely, friendly and personalised healthcare. And above all, we are talking about wholesomeness where we will not just concentrate on your illness, but we want to look more on preventive medicine and wellness,” she said.
Hellen said patients visiting the hospital and wish to be attended to at the unit are guaranteed a turnaround time of at most30 minutes.
Shalom Hospital has branches across the country, including in Machakos, Athi River, and Kisumu towns.
“The process of accessing our care is that you just walk into the Express Unit department. We are guaranteeing a turnaround time of at most 30 minutes from when you step in to see the doctor, get treated and obtain medicines.
Of course if you are prescribed for tests, there will be different turnaround time. But if it’s just for simple consultations and prescription, you should be done within 20 minutes,” she said.
There will be no queue at the Express Unit as opposed to the general hospital’s other departments.
Hellen said it will be the patient’s choice to be attended to at the Express Unit.
“We have introduced this unit at the hospital after conducting a market survey. After talking to our clients, we realised that there is a need in the market for this particular service.”
“We are now moving in a first paced world where if it’s not now, it’s right now and we are changing with time. The major distinction between us and other service providers is that we give personalised care, we are not just about treatment but also focus on prevention. We wish less Kenyans visited hospitals because most diseases are preventable,” she said.
Shalom Group of Hospitals proprietor Dr George Onyango said clients were their bosses.
“There is only one boss, the customer, and he can fire everybody in the company from the board chairman downwards simply by spending his money somewhere else. We recently conducted numerous surveys and obtained feedback. We have also embarked on continuous improvements,” he said.
Onyango said the express unit will ensure better process for efficiency and service excellence as per their strategic objectives.
“As we launch our express unit today, we are promising experienced and professional care – timely, friendly and personalised services – one stop laboratory and pharmacy services and express radiography services.”
He said in line with the Universal Healthcare Coverage, as a hospital they wanted to shift more focus towards preventive medicine and mental health.
“Our goal is to ensure our clients are healthy as per WHO with complete physical, mental and social wellbeing. Our dedicated team is available around the clock and will introduce booking services on our website and social media platforms,” Onyango said.
