South African politician Julius Malema has urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to accept the presidential results and concede defeat.

Malema said the move will make sure that no post-election violence is witnessed.

The vocal politician claimed that the beginning of the multiparty political freedom in Kenya outset inter-tribal violence.

"The EFF calls on the rival, the contestants and in particular, Raila Odinga to accept the results of the elections and act with restraint with their supporters," a statement released by Malema-led party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said.

Malema further called on the African Union and East Africa regional body to ensure that Kenya does not fall back on violence.

"Never hesitate to refer any post elections delinquent to the African Court of Human and People's Rights for a swift justice," he added.

"And Honorable Odinga to be gracious in defeat for the good of peace and order in the nation of Kenya."

He congratulated President-elect William Ruto and implored his supporters to be kind while celebrating.

"The EFF congratulates the President-elect of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto."

He said the announcement of the results by IEBC marked a milestone in the development of democratic values in Africa.

On Monday, Ruto was declared the President-elect after polling 50.49 per cent of the valid votes cast against his closet rival Raila who got 48. 85 per cent.
