10 Independent MPs-elect have joined Kenya Kwanza - Ruto

The move by MPs will help the coalition get more numbers in the National Assembly.

President-elect William Ruto now says that 10 independent MPs-elect have joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Addressing the elected leaders' caucus of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, Ruto said the 10 will be working with the Kenya Kwanza leaders to deliver development to the people of Kenya.

"Out of 12 elected independent Members of Parliament, 10 have joined our team," Ruto said.

Of the 10 who have joined, the Star has so far established four of them.

They include Nambale MP-elect Geoffrey Ekesa Mulanya, Njoroge Kururia MP-elect Gatundu North and Nebart Muriuki, MP-elect Mbeere South.

North Imenti MP-elect Abdul Rahim Dawood has also teamed up with Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The move by the MPs will help the coalition get more numbers in the National Assembly.

Azimio alliance got the majority seats at the National Assembly leading with 162 seats while Kenya Kwanza got 159 seats.

Ruto had 22 governors, 24 woman representative seats and 24 senate seats.

Azimio coalition had 21 governor seats, 20 woman representative and 23 senate seats in the just concluded August 9 election.

The senate is mandated to pass bills and law- making.
