Lawyer Nelson Havi has told the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition that they are ready for them should they file a presidential petition at the Supreme Court.

Havi, who vied but lost in the Westlands MP race on a UDA ticket to Tim Wanyonyi of ODM made light of the matter should it be filed.

"We are ready for them at the Supreme Court. In fact, we will use their own arguments on quorum of IEBC and the Court’s determination on the same in the BBI case," Havi said.

"It will be the shortest fought battle at the Apex Court."

The Azimio team has not explicitly stated that they will head to court although assumptions have been made to that effect.

The coalition's presidential candidate Raila Odinga lost the August 9 contest to his longtime rival, Deputy President William Ruto.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati Monday declared Ruto the President-elect after garnering 7,176,141 votes (50.49 per cent) against Raila's 6,942,930 votes (48.85 per cent).

But shortly before Chebukati's declaration, four IEBC commissioners cast aspersions on the credibility of the poll results saying the final process of verifying them was opaque.

"We have made sure that we have improved the standards and we say as a fact, as commissioners we have a done a good job.

"But some things need to be put out there as you can see the four of us are here and not at Bomas where the results are going to be announced because of the opaque nature of how this phase has been handled," IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera said.

She was flanked by fellow commissioners Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit and Justus Nyangaya at the hurriedly assembled press conference at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

The commissioners asked Kenyans to remain peaceful and advised the aggrieved parties to pursue legal channels in seeking justice.

Shortly afterwards, Azimio running mate Martha Karua insinuated in a tweet that they would take their battle for the presidency to corridors of justice.

"It is not over till it is over," Karua said.

On Monday while at the Bomas of Kenya, Azimio's chief agent Saitabao ole Kanchory claimed the IEBC system had been compromised and said they could not accept results they could not verify.

Raila was on Tuesday expected to issue a statement at 2pm.

His Press Secretary said the presser would be held at the KICC Azimio Media Center.

Raila's statement is highly expected to give a clear direction over the presidential election outcome.

It will be his first statement since announcement of the election results.
