A PDF copy purporting to be that of the Star newspaper with a banner headline claiming IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati was bribed is fake.

The fake copy doing rounds on social media has a headline stating that Chebukati was allegedly bribed $3 million (Sh358,500,000) to influence the awarding of ballot paper printing tender to Greek firm Inform P Lykos.

The fake copy of the PDF is dated July 7, 2022.

The correct position is that the genuine copy of the July 7 edition of the Star had a banner headline "Why IEBC chiefs are under siege."
