President-elect William Ruto has now revealed that he had a phone call with Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga  on Monday morning.

He said they had a candid discussion on the way forward for the country.

Ruto divulged that they discussed about the election and agreed that whichever way it goes, they will maintain peace.

"As a Democrat, maybe I should disclose that this morning, I called my competitor the honorable Raila Odinga and I had a discussion with him," he said.

"We agreed that whatever the outcome of this election, we should have a conversation."

The DP made the revelations in an interview with the media on Monday evening, an hour after he was declared President-elect.

"I say that I will be available for us to have a cup of tea, because there are areas we can agree on moving the country forward," the UDA leader said.

In his final rally at Kasarani Stadium on August 6, Raila said he will shake hands with Ruto whether he wins or not.

He, however, dismissed a possibility of having a similar arrangement he had with President Uhuru Kenyatta stating that the ODM leader should do his role as an opposition leader.

"I'm sure my competitor will take up his role and his team, as the opposition, so that we can see how we can move the country forward," he said.
