• He said the reason why DP Ruto got many votes is because it was a promise which the president did not fulfill as he endorsed another candidate.

Political analyst Kamau Wa Kamau has said Mt Kenya region will still need President Uhuru Kenyatta going forward because they do not know the things that happen in the back end.

Speaking in a TV interview, he said, if the region is destroyed, Uhuru will also be in the mix-up because he comes from the region and he was their leader.

Kamau said, despite the fact that Uhuru supports a party that is not affiliated with most of Mt Kenya people, they might need him since he has the knowledge they might need.

"You may see a person and you don't like where he is, but at a particular time as such, that is the person who will bridge you to the next level," he said.

Lawyer Eliud Ngugi, in the same interview, said despite Uhuru's relevance in the region, he failed the Mountain in the issue of the kingpin.

He said the reason why DP William Ruto got many votes is that it was a promise that the president did not fulfil as he endorsed another candidate.

"They got into an agreement in 2013 and agreed they will give Uhuru 10 years, and the DP 10 years. The people keep their promise and the issue about their kingpin, that is where the president failed."

"After his relationship with the DP did not work, we were confused and we do not have a Kingpin, we don't have someone to speak on behalf of the mountain," he said.
