ODM's Sifuna wins Nairobi senator seat

He garnered 716,876 votes.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has won the Nairobi Senator seat after garnering 716,876 votes.

UDA's Bishop Margaret Wanjiru came second after she got 554, 091 votes.

Nairobi County Returning Officer Albert Gogo Nguma issued Sifuna with a certificate amid jubilations at the Kasarani Sports.

Sifuna will now take over from Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja who is running for the city's governor seat.

His supporters were already at the venue and broke into song and dance after the announcement.

He was accompanied by his wife.

Others who were in the race are Silas Angira (Party of Democratic Unity), David Mwangi Gichuru (Safina), Abdikadir Ahmed Jamaa (Usawa kwa Wote Party), William Wahome Kabera (Democratic Party of Kenya), Julie Wanjiru Kabogo (Chama Cha Kazi) and Jacintah Wambui Kamau (Communist Party of Kenya).
