Passaris breaks into tears, dedicates win to late father

Newly elected Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris has dedicated her win to her late father.

The ODM Party member has been re-elected to her position after getting 698,929 votes beating her main rival, Senator Millicent Omanga of the UDA Party who got 586,246 votes.

After receiving her certificate from Nairobi County Returning Officer Albert Gogo, an emotional Passaris broke into tears and dedicated her win to her father.

"As I dedicate myself to serving this great county of Nairobi, I want to dedicate this win to my father who passed away in January. He is not here to see me win,"  she said.

"I want to say daddy, as I dedicate this win to you, I will do everything that you taught me to serve with integrity, compassion, with the spirit of God in everything I do. I will do all that in your honour for the great people of the county of Nairobi," an emotional Passaris said.

In January this year, she lost her 79-year-old father who was a naval architect and of Greek origin.

The lawmaker recounted her father’s life achievements, mourning him as an industrious man who pioneered nation-building projects.

Passaris's first attempt in elective politics was in 2008 following the death of Embakasi MP Mugabe Were.

However, she lost the by-election to former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
