Bahati floored in hotly contested Mathare MP race

Bahati came third with 8,166 votes against incumbent MP Anthony Oluoch who won with 28,098 votes.

Popular singer Kevin Kioko better known as Bahati has lost the Mathare MP contest.

Bahati came a distant third behind incumbent MP Anthony Oluoch of ODM and UDA's Billian Ojiwa in the hotly contested race.

Oluoch retained the seat by attaining 28,098 votes with Ojiwa coming second with 16,912 votes.

Bahati managed to get 8,166 votes on the Jubilee party ticket.

Ojiwa, however, rejected the outcome of the election at the vote tallying stage citing massive irregularities. He withdrew his agents before results could be announced and vowed to challenge the outcome in court.

Meanwhile, Oluoch who will be serving the constituency for a second term promised to work with his competitors to fight poverty in the area.

"I invite all my able competitors so that we work for our people," Oluoch said after being handed his certificate by Mathare Constituency Returning Officer Lucy Wangare.
