Waiguru claims rigging as Kirinyaga tallying underway

She claimed that two ballot boxes were sneaked in Kianyaga during the day.

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has  raised rigging claims even as tallying is underway.

She claimed that two ballot were sneaked in Kianyaga  during the day.

"Rigging in broad light -Two ballot boxes with governors' ballot enter Kianyaga through the back door in broad dayllight!"

"They mus be removed and counting must ," Waiguru added.

The  governor is seeking to defend her seat  for a second term under  the United Democratic Alliance ( UDA) Party . 

Her main rival, Wangui  Ngirici is on an independent ticket.

On Tuesday,  has expressed confidence  in the election process.

Speaking at Kaitheri Polytechnic polling station in Kerugoya town shortly after casting her vote, the independent candidate urged her supporters to come out in large numbers to vote for change.

She termed the exercise as transformative and called on the voters to exercise their civic duty wisely.
