Matiang'i praises security agencies as polling starts

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has urged Kenyans to cast their votes, saying security is be tight and they will be safe.

He said he is so far impressed with the turnout in the region as voting goes on.

He addressed journalists at Manga Girls High school in Borabu subcounty, Borabu constituency, where he cast his vote.

"We are grateful as government because the voting exercise kicked off smoothly despite some one or two challenges that are being addressed," Matiang'i said.

He urged Kenyans to vote and exercise their democratic right.

The CS commended security agencies for their work since election preparations began until today as the country votes. They will be on alert during and after the election.

"We have seen what our security agencies have done, we are proud that so far there is no serious security issue witnessed in the country," Matiang'i said.

"We are keen to ensure the election goes on and ends smoothly."
