President Uhuru Kenyatta has made 19 new parastatal appointments days before he leaves office.
Among the appointees include former Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi and former Kenya Association of Manufacturers CEO Phyllis Wakiaga.
Wakiaga is currently Senior Advisor at Tony Blair Institute for Global Change: Advising on Private Sector Development and Industrialization.
Gitahi has been appointed the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Rivatex East Africa Limited for a period of three years.
Wakiaga has been handed the chairmanship of the Kenya Roads Board.
Others are Charles Mugo Chiuri who has been appointed chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority and Winfrida Ngumi as chairperson of the Board of the Kenya National Highways Authority.
Simon Gicharu has been appointed chairperson of the Water Services Regulatory Board while Fatma Naaman Muses chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
All the above appointments will run for three years.
Meanwhile, Omar Mohamed has been appointed chairperson of the Kenya National Library Services Board for a period of two years.
Christine Anyango Agimba on the other hand has been appointed chairperson of the Kenya Law Reform Commission for six years while retired major general Lucas Kyonze Tumbo has been appointed chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for a period of four years.
Other appointees on three year tenures are as follows:
Dennis Awori - Member of the State Corporations Advisory Committee.
Donald Apollo Kokonya - Non-executive chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Board of Mental Health.
John Waithaka - Non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute.
Nabila Khanbhai- Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority.
Robert Mwangi Kariuki - chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board.
Geoffrey Gitu Mbirua - Non-executive Chairperson of the National Aids Control Council.
Gerald Macharia - Non-executive chairperson of the Kenya National Public Health Institute.
Jas Bedi - Non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Board.
Paul Rukaria - chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation.
Noor Musa - Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Fisheries Service.
