On the final day of the World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, Brenda Chebet and Purity Chepkirui are the only Kenyans who bagged medals in their discipline.
In a race that was won by Ethiopia's Birke Haylom in the current record time of 4:04.27, Chebet and Chepkirui placed second and third in respective personal best times of 4:04.64 and 4:07.64.
In the men's 800m final, Noah Kibet fizzled out in a disappointing seventh place finish. Kibet timed 1:48.50 to cross the finish line.
The race was won by Ethiopia's Ermias Girma in 1:47.36. Algeria's Heithem Chenitef and Great Britain's Ethan Hussey placed second (PB time 1:47.61) and third (1:47.65) respectively.
The women's 5000m final saw Jane Ghati and Maureen finished in distant sixth and seventh in respective times of 16:29.62 and 16:33.30.
Ethiopian's took the 1-2 positions through the duo of Medina Eisa and Melknat Wudu in times of 15.29.71 and 15:30.06. Uganda's Prisca Chesang finished third in 15:31.17.
The men's 3,000m steeplechase was not an exception as Emmanuel Wafula and Haron Kibet placed sixth and 10th in respective times of 8:05.45 and 8:53.79.
The race saw Ethiopian duo of Samuel Duguna and Samuel Firewu take the 1-2 positions in times of 8:37.92 and 8:39.11. Morocco's Salahhedine Ben Yazide placed third 8:40.62.
Kenya now stands at fourth place in the medal tally with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
