With just hours to the general elections, a governor candidate in Western Kenya is panicking. The politician’s campaign team has run out on money and the candidate is unable to find a benefactor to fund his final rallies. The candidate’s main financier withdrew support after opinion polls showed his main rival had caught up with him  and is likely to win the election. Insiders said the financier is already sponsoring the rival candidate, albeit secretly. Stressed and with few options, the politician is reportedly pleading with  local businessmen for campaign money with a promise that he will reward them with contracts.
