Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the Kenya Kwanza camp is in control of the 'deep state' activities.
Mutua in a statement said they are keenly monitoring events happening across the country ahead of the August 9, polls.
"Whatever the Azimio panicky team plans, we are informed before they finish because we are in control of their so-called Deep State," he tweeted on Thursday.
"There is no rigging that they will be able to undertake against Ruto. Wakipanga wanapangua. Mbele iko Sawa. (They plan, we unplan. The forward is good). "
Speaking on Monday, August 1, during campaigns in Eldoret, Ruto said the deep state is just but empty rhetoric.
"Usidanganywe, mambo ya system na mambo ya deep state ni hewa tu. Tarehe tisa mtajua hamjui," he said.
Loosely translates to, "Don't be fooled by the system and deep state stories, they don't exist. On August 9 you will know".
Mutua added that the Azimio camp has sensed defeat.
"Kenya Kwanza has the ground and this has led the Azimio team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his project to panic. They have resorted to desperate tactics to try and influence the vote."
