Jedidah Wanjiku, sister of Carol Ngumbu, has narrated the events that preceded the brutal murder of her sister and IEBC official Chris Msando on July 27.
The two went missing on July 27 and their bodies were found four days later, after a gruesome murder that brought the nation to a standstill.
Wanjiku said her sister was to have a Friday night drink with Chris Msando, and even invited her to join them.
Speaking in an interview with NTV, Jedidah said Carol was at the Kenya Medical Training College when she met Msando, their meeting was informal and later elevated their friendship into something deeper.
The relationship between Carol and Msando had lasted a year before the tragedy struck.
On the material day, Carol had called Jedidah and asked her to join them later that evening for drinks and merrymaking.
"Carol told me Chris was going for a meeting, and that Chris called her and said he was to attend another meeting in the afternoon, she should look for a place and wait for him. Some of his colleagues were around and Chris told one of them to go give Carol company before he gets done with his meetings," Jedidah said.
She said Carol called her to ask why she took long to arrive at the meeting place.
"Carol called me that night to join her and Msando for a drink but before I left, my phone went off and I didn't know the exact location so I went back home, which saved my life," Jedidah said.
Jedidah said she tried calling Carol the next day early in the morning but her phone was off.
"I called her the next morning, and her phone was off, I thought she got home late and slept off, I called the whole day, and she did not pick up."
And after several failed attempts, she saw on the news that Msando was missing, but there was no information about her sister.
She decided to go online and that is when she saw that there was a woman who was found next to Msando.
"I called my sister more than once but her phone was off, checking online I saw "Chirs is Missing" and then "his body found with an unknown female body next to him", I screamed!," Jedidiah said.
Carol's mother said she knew nothing about Carol’s relationship with Msando as it was the last thing she would have expected.
"I did not know anything about Chris, and those who brought me the information told me that she was found with him. I couldn't believe it," she said.
She said Carol's real name was Maryanne Wairimu but she just liked the name, Carol.
