Office of Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has developed Rapid Reference Guide for prosecutors to expedite sexual, gender-based violence cases (SGBV) ahead of August polls.

Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji said they will work with government security agencies to ensure all Kenyans are safe.

"Launch of the SGBV Guide is relevant to elections as SGBV offences happen during elections", said Haji.

He affirmed Kenyans that the office has put all the requirements in place preparation for election.

"We have operationalised toll free lines and call centre, developed Elections Compendium, sensitised prosecutors, stakeholders and the public. We are ready for elections," DPP said.

He urged Kenyans to come out and testify in court on election offences as it is a great challenge in prosecuting such cases without witnesses.

The office has also appointed SGBV focal persons in all the counties across the country.

They have also collaborated with other stakeholders to operationalise SGBV courts during the August polls.

The DPP said training of prosecutors & stakeholders will ensure collective preparedness.
