The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has moved its head office from along State House road.

The Council on Monday said they moved their offices to the New Mitihani House (NMH) along Popo Road in the South C area.

"This is to inform our esteemed customers and stakeholders that we have moved KNEC Head Office and all our services to the New Mitihani House, Popo Road, South C," KNEC tweeted.

The State House road-based office will remain in place but official functions have been moved to South C.

In February, it was established that Knec had begun construction of its office almost 35 years ago.

At the time, there arose concerns that KNEC was spending taxpayers’ money on rent at a rate of Sh110 million every year.

Then KNEC CEO David Njeng'ere assured stakeholders that the project was going to be complete before the year ends.

"I want you to take notice of the fact that by the end of this year, all the staff in KNEC are going to be in the new building".

Mitihani House was initiated to house all KNEC activities next to the Kenya Bureau of Standards' premises in South C.

Towers A, B, and C are expected to comprise a common basement, ground floor, and six upper floors on each tower.

There was also a planned printing plant for processing all the council’s examination papers as one component of the project.
