A man has been charged with holding a minor hostage and defiling her for days.

Kennedy Kibiyi Havi was arraigned on Wednesday before Kibera senior principal magistrate Electina Rihani when the matter came up for hearing.

Havi is accused of eloping with the girl on the very day he was instructed to take her to school.

The court heard that the accused person was instructed by his relative to take the girl to school and on the way, he took the 13-year-old girl to his house.

Havi is said to have defiled her for some days. His neighbour noticed the illegal act and reported him leading to his arrest.

He is also facing the second count of indecently touching the private parts of the girl contrary to the sexual offences act.

The charge sheet says he committed the offence on May 15, in Kabiria area in Dagoretti Sub-county within Nairobi County.

The girl is said to have been rescued by a Good Samaritan from  Sirisia in Bungoma County and brought to Nairobi so that she could proceed with her education.

The matter, however,  failed to proceed after the court lacked a Bukusu language translator.

Havi denied the charges and was released on an Sh300, 000 bond.

The magistrate directed that the case proceeds on July 21
