Kang'ata most popular governor candidate in Murang'a - Poll

Kang'ata leads at 58 per cent followed by Jamleck Kamau of Jubilee at 13 per cent.

Murang'a senator Irungu Kanga’ta has the highest support in the race for the governor seat, a new poll shows.

According to a TIFA poll released on Thursday July 14, Kang'ata leads at 58 per cent followed by Jamleck Kamau of Jubilee at 13 per cent.

Wairagu wa Maai and Irungu Nakera had five and three per cent support, respectively.

The Kenya Kwanza alliance, according to the poll, was supported by most respondents in the region.

For political parties, UDA is the most popular party followed by Jubilee and ODM.

Furthermore, almost half of the respondents in Murang’a prefer William Ruto as their presidential candidate.

62 per cent of the respondents preferred William Ruto as their presidential candidate, followed by Raila Odinga and George Wajackoyah at 18 and 4 per cent respectively.

Joe Nyutu leads the senatorial seat with 42 per cent followed by Kembi Gitura with 9 per cent and Hellen Kigia Mwangi at 6 per cent. 37 percent are undecided.

Betty Maina is almost twice as popular as her nearest rival, leading the women representative seat race with 37 per cent under Kenya Kwanza. Her rival Waithira Kibinda of Kenya Kwanza stands at 19 per cent. 

Jubilee's candidate, Waithira Muithirania followed at 5 per cent with Rebecca Kinuthia of Kenya Kwanza at 4 per cent.

The margin error for the poll was +/-4.9% from a sample size of 407 female and male registered voters.

The data was collected on 25th and 26th June 2022.
