Deputy President William Ruto and his allies are now up in arms with Agriculture CS Peter Munya.

While attacking CS Munya on Sunday, Ruto said the Agriculture ministry has failed farmers by allowing fertilizer prices to hike from Sh2500 to Sh6500.

He noted that unga prices have gone up almost three times from Sh90 to Sh230 making it hard for some families to have a meal on the table.

"From August 10, we shall change the face of Kenya with developments and our track record is clear, do not ask what we did not achieve. All is not lost, we have a few days and Kenya will move on the upwards trajectory," Ruto said.

Ruto worshipped at St Thomas Catholic church in Athi, Igbe South Constituency, Meru county where he made the remarks.

He later held campaign rallies at Nthambiro, Laare, Mulika, Mikinduri and Limoro within Meru County.

He was accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, national assembly speaker Justin Muturi, Senators Mithika Linturi (Meru), Prof Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi), MPs John Paul Mwirigi, Gitonga Murugara (Tharaka), Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu), Kirima Ngushine(Imenti Central), Kathuri Murungi (Imenti South) Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) among others.

Gachagua said Munya has failed Kenyans and he should therefore not deceive people to vote for Raila because he was promised a cabinet Secretary slot if the Azimio leader wins.

"We have no problem with Munya but he has a history. His history as minister is that fertilizer rose from 2500-6000 and UNGA from 120-230," he said.

"But Munya, when you come to Mt Kenya region respect people and especially farmers. When they complain about low bonuses, you tell them to add theirs. That is wrong. It is also a shame and disdain to lower unga prices by only two shillings when people are suffering."

South Imenti MP Kathuri Murungi trashed Munya's earlier sentiments that tea farmers will reap big tea bonuses because of his initiative.

"We developed very good laws and regulations to govern the sector and add earnings to the farmer. They brought a bonus early to hoodwink farmers to vote for Azimio but farmers have received Sh30 bonus. Their deceit to vote for Raila because of bonus has not worked," Kathuri said.

Ichung'wa on his part blasted CS Munya saying it was an insult to Kenyans for him to review maize flour prices by Sh2.

"Wait until a Mwananchi caring government takes over and reduces the prices after August 9," he said.
