Siaya County Senator James Orengo has downplayed the Kenya Kwanza manifesto saying it is full of promises that cannot be fulfilled.

He spoke during an Azimio campaign Rally in Siaya County on Friday.

"Ruto (UDA leader) came late and he has is come with a manifesto which is full of generalities without specifics. Full of promises that cannot be fulfilled," Orengo said.

The Governor aspirant explained that ODM leader Raila Odinga's manifesto is specific.

"When Raila tells you he's going to give poor families Sh6,000 each, Raila tells you where he’s going to get the money. Ruto is not telling us how he can make Kenya a middle-income country," Orengo said.

"I'm giving him 10 out of 100, very poor, that is D in performance."

He pointed out that Raila and his running mate Martha Karua have expounded on how they will deal with corruption, yet Ruto's manifesto did not even acknowledge the issue.

"Instead of Ruto coming clearly and openly and directly that he will fight against corruption, he says he will fight against the weaponization of the criminal justice system. That is a lot of English with no firm stand," the Senator said.

EALA MP Oburu Odinga on his part said Ruto has been copying Azimio for the better part of his political journey in 2022.

"You can see the type of manifesto Ruto produced. It was a copy-paste on Azimio. He said he was just going to talk and not put anything on paper. But when he saw ODM putting it on paper, he also decided to put his on paper," Oburu said.

"His professionals have run bankrupt of ideas. Ruto is saying he is going to bring Sh50 billion down here to the mama mboga, what channel is he going to use to distribute it to the people? Is he going to give handouts? This is cheating people."
