Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah and his running mate Justina Wamae have said it is time Kenyans embraced marijuana farming because they stood to gain in terms of employment and revenues.

Speaking during an interview, on Vybez Radio on Tuesday, the Professor who became an internet sensation following his policies on growing bhang for export, said that marijuana farming will create job opportunities for the youth. 

"Roots Party is offering a solution to Kenyans problems which include creating job opportunities for the youths both in the local markets and export sector," Wajackoyah said.

His running mate Wamae said in a bid to address the high cost of living as a result of high taxation, it was time for Kenyans to embrace marijuana farming as this will boost the country's revenues.

She said that there is an available external market for marijuana since it is used for medical purposes.

"It's high time that we change our mindset and look at Marijuana farming as an opportunity to expand the local industries," she said.

In the interview,  Wajackoyah dismissed his critics who claimed that legalising marijuana will lead to increased cases of mental illness.

"Jamaica has only 1 per cent cases of people with mental illness as compared to our country where over 3 million youths have the same issue," Wajackoyah revealed.

He also took a swipe at the church leadership accusing them of using bible verses out of context.

"They fail to mention that the herbs were also used for medical purposes," he said.

On corruption, the Roots party leader said he will make sure that all the corrupt leaders are out of office within the first 100 days in office.

"If Kenyans will elect us in office the, Roots Party will make sure that all the corrupt leaders are out of office within the first 100 days and they be accountable for the loans that they took," he added.
