Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko now claims money must have changed hands, leading to his current tribulations.

Sonko, who was disqualified from vying for the Mombasa Governor seat, said he will not be shaken by the decision.

He said this after the IEBC Dispute Resolution Committee upheld the decision of the Mombasa returning officer Sala Yusuf to disqualify Sonko from the race since he was impeached as Nairobi Governor.

Tumepigana vita kubwa kushinda hii (We have fought many other bigger fights). We shall stand with the truth… And we will pray to God and move on,” Sonko said.

He was speaking on Monday night following IEBC’s decision to uphold the disqualification.

The flamboyant politician claimed that he did everything by the law.

Sonko gave an example of when one goes to the bank and even at closing hours, one has not been attended to.

“What happens in such a case is the bank does not chase you away but will attend to you,” he added.

The ex-governor argues that he presented his documents on time and the only thing that was a setback was the argument that his appeal took time.

“So the argument in the Court of Appeal took time and we served the returning officer with the direction from the Supreme Court in the presence of the media,” he added.

Sonko’s running mate Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has said they will be heading to the High Court on Tuesday over the matter.

Justice will be served tomorrow ( Tuesday) when we run to the High Court. We are not going back to Mombasa until we get justice,” he added.

Nevertheless, the Wiper party, which had nominated Sonko, has been given 72 hours to nominate another candidate to vie for the Mombasa Governor seat in place of Sonko.
