SCRAMBLE FOR VOTES

Nothing will change in Kenya if Raila wins – Mutua

Mutua claims Raila had lost control of his political strongholds to Ruto.

In Summary

•“Kenya needs change, better living standards. We want women, and youths to have money. So, Kenyans don’t be cheated. Ruto is advocating for the bottom-up economic model since he understands that we want the distribution of money from the Treasury to start from the bottom going up,” Mutua said.

•He persuaded Kenyans to vote for Ruto in August 9 polls stating that the country needs change.

Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said nothing will change in Kenya if Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga ascends to power.

Mutua said Kenyans will keep experiencing tough economic times due to high inflation under Raila’s administration since he would be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s project.

“There is nothing that will change in Kenya. Fuel prices will continue rising, food won’t be available, and money won’t be found because Azimio’s cabinet will have the same CSs President Uhuru Kenyatta is having,” Mutua said.

The governor who decamped from Raila’s Azimio One Kenya Alliance to Deputy President William Ruto led Kenya Kwanza coalition a few months ago spoke during his political rally to drum support for Ruto’s presidential bid in Masinga, Mbiuni and Kawethei towns, Machakos County on Monday, June 13.

He persuaded Kenyans to vote for Ruto in August 9 polls stating that the country needs change.

“Kenya needs change, better living standards. We want women, and youths to have money. So, Kenyans don’t be cheated,” Mutua said.

"The late Daniel Moi served his terms and exited politics. Mwai Kibaki exited, Barack Obama also exited from active politics after serving as the US President. Kenyatta is the chairman of Azimio and still, Jubilee wants half of the government in Raila’s administration, it’s because Raila is a project,” Mutua said.

The governor, however, said Raila had minimum chances of winning the Presidency.

He argued that the former Prime Minister’s political strongholds had been invaded by Ruto.

Mutua said the Ukambani region which initially voted for Raila overwhelmingly will give Ruto an equal share.

"Raila initially had an intact political bloc for Western, Nyanza, Coast region and Ukambani which could give him over 80% and that's why he could go head to head with Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta. Today regions like Mt Kenya, Lower Eastern and Western Kenya will vote for Ruto,” Mutua said.

Mutua’s remarks come a day after Raila toured Machakos County accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a bid to consolidate his support base.

Mutua said Kenyans were keen on electing a president who understands their needs.

He took a swipe at Raila saying he was planning to ban Mitumba clothes that are highly used by common Mwananchi.

Mutua warned Kenyans about electing Raila claiming he was being fronted by Kenyatta for the position.

"Raila is not only a puppet but also a captive of Uhuru's administration," Mutua said.

He accused Kalonzo of misleading the Kamba community to the opposition.

“Raila’s government is full. Half of current Uhuru's cabinet has already been allocated positions in the Raila government should he win in the August polls. He will not get anything for the Kamba community,” Mutua said.
