IEBC clears Abdi Guyo for Isiolo governor race

He will vie for the seat on a Jubilee ticket alongside running mate James Lowasa.

Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Guyo has been cleared by IEBC to vie for the Isiolo governor seat in the August 9 General Election.

Guyo who was cleared alongside his running mate James Lowasa on Monday will vie for the seat on a Jubilee ticket.

Speaking after being issued with the certificate, Guyo called for peaceful campaigns as he expressed his joy over the green light.

"I want want to thank IEBC for the efficiency with which they have conducted this exercise," he said.

Together with Lowasa, Guyo called on their opponents to uphold peaceful elections and put tribalism aside.

"I take this opportunity to also ask my competitors to engage in peaceful campaigns devoid of violence.

"I want to also urge my supporters to be calm and conduct themselves peacefully,” he added.

The Jubilee duo pledged to start intense campaigns in Isiolo.

They have been spreading messages of peace and inclusivity of all communities while pledging to unite all tribes in Isiolo if elected.

“Tribalism will not be an issue under my leadership. Isiolo is home to many communities from Meru, Borana, Samburu, Embui , Turkana, Karayu, Sakuyu," Guyo said.

"Everyone will be treated equally regardless of their community because none is superior than the other," he added.

Lowasa said they bring the message of peace as its the bedrock upon which communities prosper.

"This is the time for change, a new dawn for the people of Isiolo. Together with incoming Governor Guyo, we will bring the change you need,” Lowasa said.
