Kenya records 112 new Covid-19 cases

The youngest is a five-year-old child while the oldest is 91 years old.

Kenya on Saturday recorded 112 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 2,214 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate remained unchanged at 5.1 per cent.

The Health Ministry said in a statement 86 of the newly infected individuals are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners.

It said 52 of them are females while 60 are males.

The youngest is a five-year-old child while the oldest is 91 years old.

Nairobi accounted for 91 of the new cases, Kitui 10, Murang’a 6, Kiambu 3 and Kericho two cases.

Kenya's total confirmed positive cases are now 325,554  while cumulative tests conducted so far are 3,682,132.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 63 patients have recovered from the disease, all from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program.

"This pushes the total recoveries to 318,818 of whom 265,787 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,031 are from various health facilities countrywide," he said in the statement.

No patient succumbed to the disease meaning the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,651.

There are seven patients currently admitted in various health facilities while 1,078 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none is on supplemental oxygen and no patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

So far, Kenya has administered 18,271,847 vaccines.

The government is working towards vaccinating 27,246,033 people by December 2022.
