Kenya’s first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and his son Uhuru Kenyatta have arrived at Uhuru gardens for Madaraka day fete.

Mama Ngina arrived 30 minutes before Uhuru who came in accompanied by wife Margaret Kenyatta.

Dressed in a maroon Ankara blouse and skirt, Mama Ngina donned a head wrap as she made her way to the VIP dais.

On the other hand, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s convoy left the State House to Uhuru Gardens at around 10:45am and arrived at 11:15am.

Dressed in a black suit and red tie, President Uhuru Kenyatta entered his ceremonial open Land-Rover.

He waved to the ecstatic crowd chanting messages of welcome as he was taken around the arena while being escorted by presidential motorcade.

As he went round for the last time in his presidency, the Kenyan patriotic song “ Kenya Kenya Kenya taifa letu” was played.

At 11:20, Uhuru stopped for the national anthem to be sang which was followed by the East Africa.

He then proceeded and inspected his last guard of honour for 10 minutes where he walked majestically passing the military.

Uhuru proceeded to the Dais at 11:30 where he greeted officials from the Deputy President William Ruto and Rachel, Azimio presidential Candidate Raila Odinga and Mama Ida.

He also greeted Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He eventually took his seat next to First Lady Margaret Kenyatta who was dressed in red with a touch of Maasai colours.

Earlier, Ruto made his way to the arena accompanied by Rachel Ruto.

Former Prime Minster Raila Odinga and Mama Ida ,Azimio la Umoja Gubernatorial Candidate for Nairobi Polycarp Igathe, Jubilee party Director of elections Kanini Kega were also part of the VIP guests.

Also present were; Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, Deputy Chief Justice Mwilu, Jimmy Kibaki, Nyeri Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu and governor Cornel Rasanga among others.
