Murang'a County Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has threatened to turn his  Usawa Kwa Wote Party into a resistance movement if not cleared to vie for the presidency.

Speaking at the  Bomas of Kenya on Monday,  the governor said he had submitted the required papers to the IEBC and wondered why he had been locked out of the list of aspirants to be cleared by the IEBC.

Wa Iria read malice in the clearing exercise saying there was a plot to lock him out for no valid reason.

"If by the end of the day they will not register me, I will convert my party into a resistance movement, they can be sure of that," he said.

The Governor denied barricading the Bomas of Kenya entrance despite having parked his convoy at the entrance and exit gate.

Wa Iria was reportedly locked out of the race for failing to submit the minimum required signatures.

For one to be cleared to vie for presidency, they are required to have at least 2000 signatures from a minimum of 24 counties.

The Governor has, however, denied failing to meet the required signatures faulting the electoral body with malice.

“Even people who failed to meet requirements are in the schedule but my name has been removed… No election will be conducted if I will not contest,” he said.
