Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe has assured ODM leader Raila Odinga of victory in the August 9, polls.
Speaking on Monday in Kajiado County during the launch of governor Joseph Lenku's second-term bid, Murathe said the Mt Kenya region will follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's direction.
He downplayed Deputy President William Ruto's inroads in the Mt Kenya region saying he will be in for a rude shock in the forthcoming polls.
“Mt. Kenya iyo mnayosikia, sisi tutafuata Uhuru. Uhuru ametuambia ni Raila, na sisi tunampenda ‘Baba’ na huko ndo tunaenda. Ameangalia hao wawili na akatuambia ni Raila, si ako na sababu?" Murathe posed.
Loosely translates to: "In Mt Kenya region, we follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's direction. Uhuru has told us it is Raila he wants for the presidency and we are going to follow that path. He has gauged the two presidential aspirants and determined it is Raila who fits the bill. Doesn't he has a reason?".
Murathe assured Mt Kenya residents that they will be safe in Raila’s administration if he wins the August 9, elections.
He also added Raila is the right person to fight corruption in the country saying it is the main problem bedevilling the country.
Murathe said the Kenya Kwanza team has no agenda to fight corruption in the country.
