JSC shortlists ex-IEBC chair Hassan for Court of Appeal job

The two are among 334 individuals who have been shortlisted by Judicial Service Commission.

Former IEBC chairman Issack Hassan has been shortlisted for the position of judge of the Court of Appeal.

Former IEBC deputy Lilian Mahiri-Zaja has also been shortlisted for the High Court judge position.

The two served the commission between 2011 and 2016. Hassan's last few months in office were tough as the Opposition pushed for the forceful removal of his team.

The commissioners had also been accused of corruption and colluding with the government to rig the August 8 general election.

In a notice on Wednesday, the two are among 334 individuals who have been shortlisted by Judicial Service Commission.

The Commission advertised the positions on March 14, 2022.

A total of 68 individuals had applied for the positions in the court of appeal out of which the JSC shortlisted 31.

Some 266 individuals applied for the positions in the High Court.

JSC which shortlisted 104 will interview the candidates between June 20 and August 24 this year.

Secretary of prosecutions Dorcas Oduor is also seeking to join the JSC as the judge of High Court.

"The interviews will be conducted at the Judicial Service commission office boardroom Reinsurance Plaza, podium floor in Nairobi," the notice read.

JSC asked the public to submit any details of the applicant that may be of interest to the commission.

"Members of public are invited to avail in writing any information of interest in respect to any of the shortlisted candidates," the notice read.

They should do so using [email protected] or write to Anne Amadi P.O Box 40048-00100.

“The Commission may interview any member of the public who has submitted any information of interest in respect of any shortlisted candidate and such information will be kept confidential,”the notice read.
