All set as guests in Othaya await Kibaki's body

As the funeral cortege of the late former president Mwai Kibaki snakes through Kiambu, Murang'a and Kirinyaga to Othaya Approved  School, guests at the venue are already set and its matter of the body arriving for the burial service to kick off.

Senior military officials have already arrived in Othaya considering that the late President will be accorded full military honours.

Kibaki by virtue of being a former president is regarded as a five-star general.

The body of the late Kibaki is being transported in a hearse.

It will be moved into a gun carriage when it reaches about 400 meters to the venue where the burial service will be held.

Thousands of residents had already started streaming in as early as 5 am.

Security was heightened in the area with everyone entering the venue being frisked.

The body of the late Kibaki is expected to arrive by 10 am.

The burial service is expected to start from 10 am to 1 pm.

The requiem mass will be led by three bishops. Archbishop Anthony Muheria will lead the service.

The final burial ceremony to be held at Kibaki's home will be from 3 pm to 4 pm.

During the burial, Kibaki will be accorded 19 gun salutes in honour of his service as the Commander in chief of Kenya's armed forces.
