Eldas Boys Secondary School is celebrating after performing well in the just released 2021 KCPE results.
The little known school in Eldas subcounty was position 70 in the country after a mean score of 8.11 (B plain).
Out of 57 students, 56 qualified for direct entry to university.
It is the only Northeastern school among the best 200 schools nationally.
Isack Muktar was the best student with a B+ (plus) of 72 points while Osman Abdi came second with 71 points B + (plus).
Since its inception in 2007, the school has been improving.
In 2019 it had a mean score of 5.2, 2020 6.1 and now 8.1.
The school principal Mahat Adow Ismail said they were not surprised by the good results because they had worked hard.
“We had an honest conversation with our candidates, parents and leaders, and agreed that to get good results, we have to move in the same direction. This is the best class we have ever had,” Ismail said.
“I appreciate our MP Adan Keynan for investing in education. Through the CDF kitty, he made sure no student stayed at home for lack of school fees.”
Ismail said besides commitment by teachers, students and other stakeholders, the modern infrastructures also helped them perform well.
He said they now aim at improving the results and mean score.
The principal said despite the challenges encountered they soldered on as the teachers worked closely with students, during the long break caused by Covid-19.
Speaking to the Star on phone, MP Keynan said the huge investment his administration has put in the education sector over the years has started to bear fruits.
“Education has been among my key priorities as my administration sought to improve infrastructure and create a conducive environment for learners to feature in the national academic space by performing well,” he said.
“I congratulate the teachers, parents and students for their coordination, hard work and relentless efforts. This has contributed to the excellent performance of Eldas Boys Secondary School.”
The school was officially inaugurated by CS George Magoha in July last year.
In February, during a parent's day event in the school, Keynan urged parents in Northeastern to continue investing in their children's education.
The MP said an educated workforce is the foundation of every community and the future of every economy.
The legislator said he believes in the transformative value of education in community development. He urged the people to walk the journey with him.
