Lawyer and political commentator Ambrose Weda has claimed that it would be detrimental for the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition Party flag bearer Raila Odinga if he fails to pick Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.

In an interview  with KTN NEWS on Friday, Weda said that if the running mate position is not given to Kalonzo, Raila's chances of becoming president will be reduced by one million votes.

Weda said that even if Raila chooses a running mate from Mt. Kenya region, he will only get 30 per cent votes.

He claimed that there was a deal between Kalonzo, and Raila to run for presidency separately before President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened.

“This thing of coming late, I do not understand,” Weda said.

The lawyer also claimed that Raila did not want to run for presidency but the people surrounding him pushed him.

“If the running mate position is not given to Kalonzo, the Kamba vote will divide by half."

Leaders allied to Kalonzo opened a new battle in the Azimio power line up.

Led by Kitui Senator Enock Wambua, Kalonzo’s confidants maintained that the Wiper leader should be named Raila’s running mate.

Wambua explained that since Raila was named party leader and Coalition Council member, the deputy position should have been given to Kalonzo.

Speaking at the Kalonzo Musyoka Presidential Command Centre in Nairobi on Friday, Wambua said it was regrettable that the Wiper leader was only listed as a council member.

“I will not mince my words. Those who will get the information will do as they please,” Wambua said.

“Kenyans should not pretend they do not know the best options. Kenyans are watching and there are steps that if we take, it will not make sense."
