Police are investigating an incident where a 57-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room he had booked in Parklands area, Nairobi, after an apparent suicide.

Naajam Masood is suspected to have used a belt to commit suicide.

The hotel management says he booked the room on April 2 and has been staying there alone until Wednesday evening when the body was found.

Police are investigating to establish if he died by suicide or he was killed body dumped there.

In Mowlem, Dandora, the body of Boniface Kamande, 40, was found in his house three days after he had died by suicide.

Police who attended the scene said a bed sheet was found wrapped around his neck and that the decomposing body was dangling from the roof. The motive of the incident is yet to be known.

In Hardy, Karen, police said they will charge a woman with an attempt to commit suicide. This was after the woman was saved and taken to hospital minutes after she swallowed a poison.

The woman had quarrelled with her husband before she apparently tried to commit suicide by swallowing the poison. She was admitted to the hospital.

And a caretaker of a residential house in Kasarani area, Nairobi, was found dead in his house in a suspected suicide incident.

The man had been on duty but went missing on Monday evening. His body was found the following day, in the evening, hanging from a rope in his room.

The body was moved to the mortuary as investigations into the incident go on.

Police say they have been recording at least one suicide incident on a daily basis in the city.

Officials link the trend to societal pressure and have been calling for measures to address the same.
