Deputy President William Ruto has promised Kenyans that before the year ends, all Kenyans will be able to access National Hospital Insurance Fund.

Ruto stormed Kitui County on Tuesday to hunt for votes in his bid to clinch the presidency in the August 9, polls.

“Before December this year, everyone will be accessing NHIF,” the DP said.

The DP said the ordinary citizens should pay less for the NHIF because they earn less.

Ruto urged the government to foot the NHIF premiums for those who cannot afford to pay.

“Serikali ilipie yule ambaye haezi kulipa ili kila mwananchi atibiwe na arudi nyumbani kwa sababu the National Insurance cover will take care of all the medical expenses,” Ruto said.

Loosely translated to: "Government should pay for those who cannot so that very Kenyan can access treatment since the NHIF will take care of all the medical expenses".

The Government has been pushing for Universal Health Coverage as one of its core agenda in ensuring that the health of Kenyans is guranteed.
