Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said that the attack on journalists at Orange House was proof of how bad a president ODM leader Raila Odinga will be.

In a post on Facebook, Kuria claimed that even the ODM leader's running mate can be attacked in his presence, and he will do nothing.

"The attack on journalists by Azimio goons at Orange House further confirms something that I told a friend who was moving to Azimio. Even if you are Raila's running mate you can be roughed up by his barbaric goons right in front of him and he will do nothing," he said.

"Later Makau Mutua will issue a statement promising to investigate. Can you imagine if he was President already ?"

His reaction came after two journalists were on Thursday roughed up by a group of goons during a meeting convened by Azimio Presidential aspirant Raila Odinga at Chungwa House.

The Standard journalist Moses Nyamori was roughed up and assaulted by known Chungwa House security men in what is believed to have a connection with a story that did not sit well with the party’s big guns.

The well-built men under the command of Chungwa House head of security Benard Kadundo roughed up the reporter and physically ejected him out of Chungwa House where Raila was receiving Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku who was decamping to the Orange Party from Jubilee.

In the melee, Star journalist Luke Awich was also roughed up and his phone’s screen smashed.

The goons demanded that the journalists get out of the spot where they were listening to the speakers at the function attended by party leader Raila.

The Orange party later on apologised to the media fraternity in the country.

In a statement, ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale condemned the attack.

"The incident is unfortunate and quite regrettable. We wish to state that the ODM party does not condone any form of harassment on anyone including members of the press," Etale said.

He continued that the investigations have started and those involved will be held to account.

"The party is investigating the incident and those involved will be held to account. We apologize unequivocally to the two journalists and the entire media fraternity following the incident."
