Kenya Kwanza Alliance principals have agreed to front Deputy President William Ruto as the outfit's presidential candidate, Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula has said.
Speaking in Dundori in Bahati, Nakuru county, Wetang'ula said the DP will face-off with the ODM leader Raila Odinga for the top seat.
Raila on March 12, was unveiled as the Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate.
"We in Kenya Kwanza have agreed that Ruto will be our presidential candidate," Wetang'ula said on Saturday.
Both Wetang'ula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi had announced bids for the presidency.
The announcement now means the two have shelved their bids for Ruto.
The team will now be focused on picking a running mate a matter that is a subject of debate in the alliance.
While ANC leaders maintain the post is meant for them, the Mt Kenya region has insisted the seat had already been reserved for them even before the formation of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
