Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta over his expected meeting with Mt Kenya leaders.

In a statement, Kuria said Mt Kenya leadership has been waiting for a meeting with the president for the past four years.

"Mt Kenya leaders have been waiting for a proper sit down for four years," he said.

He noted that Uhuru calling them after declaring support for ODM leader Raila Odinga is contempt.

The MP called on the President to respect leaders from the region.

"To call them 143 days before the election and when you have already declared yourself the campaign manager for Kitendawili is contemptuous. With the utmost respect and deep regret, just let us be," Kuria said.

His remarks come ahead of an expected meeting between Uhuru and leaders from the Mt Kenya region on Friday.

The meeting is set to be held at State House, Nairobi.

The President's meeting with leaders from the mountain comes a few weeks after his Sagana III meeting, where he endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.

"Let me tell you a lot has been said and I always keep quiet. People have come here to tell you how they love you. I don't know about that but soon, we will know," he said.

"I won’t speak about other people, but I want people to make a choice based on the truth, not lies."
