Kelvin Ogola Ojwang succumbed to the gunshot injuries on Tuesday, March 15, at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where he had been admitted since March 11 when the incident happened.

He and another pedestrian were shot by three suspects who were escaping the police. According to police and witnesses, the other victim was injured in the stomach.

The gang had been robbing pedestrians in the area when the police were alerted. And as they escaped, they shot indiscriminately at pedestrians on their way, injuring the two.

Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said the other victim is admitted to the hospital in stable condition.

No arrest has been made so far. The gang is believed to be hiding in Kibera slums.

Elsewhere, investigations have been launched into an incident in which the body of a man was found with gunshot wounds in Athi River, Machakos County.

The man had been shot from the back and the bullet exited from the mouth in what police believe was an execution.

The body was discovered near a construction site in the area moments after the incident had happened. Police said they do not know the motive of the murder and efforts to identify the victim were ongoing on Wednesday.
