Deputy President William Ruto's unveiling as the UDA party presidential candidate nominee was on Tuesday characterized with a fanfare of some sort.

Immediately he finished his speech, the DP was treated to a knees-up session that saw him burn the dance floor as various songs, composed specifically for the occasion, played out.

The DP rose up to the challenge and danced to his signature campaign song dubbed 'Mimi Sipangwingwi' remix, a song that has been widely used in his campaign rallies.

When the heat became too much, Ruto had to remove his coat to seemingly move rhythmically to the music.

Thousands of delegates who attended the NDC came in handy in cheering on the DP and the artists who gave their best to the occasion.

Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar gave a stunning performance of his "Kigeugeu" song.

The DP could be seen enjoying the song the same way as the audience, who were heard paraphrasing the lyrics of the song to "Uhuru Kigeugeu".

Perhaps, the song reminded the DP and his allies of the 'betrayal' they have been talking about when accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of ditching them despite standing with him at the hour of need.

Earlier, the UDA delegates at Ruto's unveiling as the party's flag-bearer brought the function to a standstill after they jeered President Uhuru Kenyatta by chanting "Yote yawezekana bila Uhuru".

The chants emerged when Ruto was delivering his acceptance speech as the UDA party presidential nominee.

The delegates estimated to be over 5,000 gathered at the Kasarani gymnasium in Nairobi on Tuesday.

The chants began shortly after the second in command stated that he would free the state agencies that have been used by the government to settle political scores.

"On our first day in office we will free the DCI, we will free the KRA," Ruto said.

In his address, the Deputy President called out the current leadership saying that it had made the running of the country about a few individuals.

He insisted that Kenya is about 50 million people, calling out President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga led Building Bridges Initiative.
