Ruto to face two aspirants for UDA presidential ticket

UDA party slated its NDC for Tuesday to endorse presidential candidate.

United Democratic Alliance party has announced that the party has received three applicants for the post of presidential flag bearer.

In a statement, Ruto’s Presidential Campaigns Director of Communications Hussein Mohamed said Ruto and two others have expressed interest in the seat.

The two others are Jephnel Nyakwama and Tracy Wanjiru Kingoli.

The interview will be conducted on Saturday, March 12, at the UDA headquarters, Nairobi.

The UDA is set to hold its National Delegates Conference on Tuesday, March 15.

“We are in receipt of your application to be nominated as a presidential candidate through the National Delegates Congress. Consequently, we invite you for verification of your documents and interview to determine your eligibility as a presidential candidate,” the interview letters to both Nyakwama and Kingoli reads.

UDA secretary-general Veronica Maina asked the three applicants to submit a National Identification Card, a soft copy of a coloured passport-sized photograph, proof of payment of nomination fees, an original copy of the academic certificate, and an updated resume.

“We right to invite you for verification of your documents and interview to determine your eligibility as Presidential Candidate. This will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 0830 hours, the venue being Hustler Plaza,” Veronica said in a letter to the three applicants reads.

The proposed presidential candidate will be endorsed for the presidency on the same day.

About 5000, delegates are expected to attend the NDC.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula are expected to attend UDA'S NDC.
